The License Plate that Pays for College
The College for All Texans AmeriCorps*VISTA Program was selected from 53 current VISTA programs in the state of Texas, as an excellent example of the many ways the VISTA program supports communities working together to end poverty in America. VISTA: Overcoming Poverty, Building Capacity highlights how VISTA projects and VISTAs are changing lives in low-income communities across America. The report highlights the achievements of 52 VISTA projects- one from each state, that are having a positive impact on America's people living in the poorest conditions. At the time the report was printed, our program supported 15 VISTA members serving in K-12 GO Centers (College & Career Preparation Centers). Currently, the program boasts 30 AmeriCorps*VISTA members serving in San Antonio and Houston public schools.
